Description
This is a beautiful example of an untreated andamooka matrix opal from the Andamooka opal fields of Australia.
Often these opals are treated to turn the matrix black, which does create a beautiful contrast against the color play, however, the natural beige tones sandstone can have its own beauty and the rarity factor here adds to the stones desirability.
The color play in this one rolls across the surface in a fairly uniform pattern, from side to size, in color bands, starting at red, and finishing in a barely visible purple. This is easy to see in the video I posted above.
